About Centauri
I started with computers in 1975 when my dad built his first Altair, then in 1978 I spent two days in the local Radio Shack playing with their Model I, learning how to program in BASIC. I went to Saywer school of business in Sacramento for computer programming in 1982, and after one month was getting bored with the speed of the class. I told my instructor this and asked for all of my assignments ahead so I could work at my own pace.
Three and a half months later I completed the fourteen month class with 96% on my grades.
I've done database programming in PICK (also known as Universe, Prime, Advanded Revelation, etc. since 1985).
Extensive C programming over the years. X-Windows/Motif, BSD Sockets, CDE, custom BBS software (CenCit - a Citadel variant), a dial-up terminal emulation program, development of an entire DOS based windowing system among other things.
I also learned many of the programming environments of unix. Bourne shell, C shell, Korn shell, awk, sed, perl. I automated many aspects of system administration through the use of cron, various shell scripts, C or perl, and data tables.
Starting Feb of 1999, I have been studying all of the current documentation on web page design, use of style sheets for formatting, what web user really want (speed, less use of graphics) and how to implement a web based business.
I now have 4 unix machines running in a private network and use NFS between them all and they get out to the Internet through a router, this has given me some good Network experience.
