Anyway, sonofusion might work, but the existence of fusion reactions doesn't necessarily mean that it is capable of producing net energy. One example of this is Inertial Electrostatic Fusion, which is also considered by some to be a tabletop device. It produces fusion reactions, but the design currently uses more electrical energy than it produces.
