What is FluxWorld?
FluxWorld is a heavily modified version of PerlMUD.
PerlMUD is a MultiUser Dimension (MUD), a text-based
environment that allows multiple users to converse,
explore, and interact. PerlMUD is written in Perl 5
and is highly compatible with the well-known TinyMUD
command set, which provides a friendly interface
to your online environment.
PerlMUD is inexpensive shareware, and complete Perl
source code is included. This Administrator has greatly
extended the PerlMUD system by writing additional
Perl code.
What's new and nifty about version 3.1?
Version 3.1 has many new features:
- commerce an entire system of commands dedicated to an economical model of buying, selling, trading, and making money. This also includes jobs and mining.
- chat system wide. Used like a global intercom.
- cast is similar to the activated, except that if you 'cast' an
activated object to someone, its like they picked it up and it teleports them.
This was the main reason for the haven flag.
- haven a person or a room can be flag set as haven. this
protects from the cast command
- Intro is a command to be used like the @describe, but you
only see it when you type intro. Makes the navigation less wordy.
- about uses about.txt, as a way to write a long introduction
- hidden flag added to hide things even from examine
- For objects, an activated flag. If an object is activated and
the link set with @actlink, picking up this object results in a teleportation to
that room (good for BioHazards, grenades, bombs, etc.
- Team Many new commands are related to the team
play concept. Teams may own rooms, exits and things. This means
that team members may modify and use team owned things.
